Fiix alternatives for small shops
Fiix has a free plan. Here is what it covers, what the paid plans cost your team, and what else is out there.
You may be here because Fiix looked like a lot of system for a small shop. Fiix is good software. It is part of Rockwell Automation. Its paid plans are priced per person, and that adds up fast in a small shop.
This page shows the math. It also says when Fiix is the right pick. One thing to know up front: we sell shop spreadsheets and a flat-price board of our own. The numbers are real either way.
Start with the free plan
Fiix has a free plan. It costs $0, and you don't need a card. It covers as many machines, work orders and parts as you have.
It has two limits. Only a small number of people can use it. Fiix does not say how many. And only 25 Preventive maintenance jobs can be set up at one time.
If two or three people will use it, and you have fewer than 25 jobs, try the free plan first. It is a real deal.
What the paid plans cost
Basic is $45 a person a month. Professional is $75. You can pay by the month or by the year.
Checked Oct 16, 2026, on Fiix's own site. Prices change, so check before you sign.
The math for your team
Now put your team in it. Say eight people need to log in. That is whoever runs the shift, two people who fix the machines, and the people who report problems.
Fiix Basic: 8 x $45 = $360 a month. That is $4,320 a year.
Fiix Professional: 8 x $75 = $600 a month. That is $7,200 a year.
BreakdownBoard: $39 a month. That is for the whole shop, not each person.
Free plan or $39 a month?
Fiix Free is for a small number of people. BreakdownBoard is $39 a month for the whole shop. Anyone on the floor can log a stop from a phone in 20 seconds, with no login. Once a week, you get one email: what downtime cost you, by machine.
Need work orders for a few people? Take the free plan. Want every stop counted in dollars? That is what the board does.
When Fiix is the right pick
Fiix does a lot. It runs work orders, Preventive maintenance and parts. People who use it give it 4.5 stars. That is from 629 reviews on Capterra.
Need work orders and parts for a bigger team? Then get a quote from Fiix. Only need to log stops and see what they cost? Then you would pay for more than you use.
Other options for the small shop
These prices come from each company's own site. They are per person, per month, billed by the year. Limble no longer shows prices, so its line is the last price it showed, in March 2026. Checked Oct 16, 2026.
MaintainX: a free Basic plan. Then $20 for Essential and $65 for Premium. You need Premium to track parts. More on it in MaintainX alternatives.
Limble: no prices on its site now. Its last prices were $28 for Standard and $69 for Premium+. More on it in Limble alternatives.
UpKeep: $24 for Essential and $55 for Premium. No free plan, only a free trial.
FreeMaint: one flat price for the company. A free plan, and paid plans from $29 a month. We have not run it on a floor.
A good spreadsheet: $9 to $12 one time. Ours flag what is due and rank your stops by cost. It will not send alerts to phones. Want a number first? Try the free downtime cost calculator.
How to decide
- Only a few people, with fewer than 25 jobs to keep up: try Fiix Free. Know its limits before you build on it.
- You need work orders and parts for a bigger team: get quotes from Fiix and MaintainX, and count your real seats first.
- You need stops logged and Preventive maintenance kept up: a spreadsheet does it for $9 to $12.
- You want it on every phone, but per-person prices are too much: pick a flat price for the shop. FreeMaint is one. Ours is another, if you do not need work orders.
